Wahoo
blessings
Hola hola
Lots of tender mercies this
week!
We teach an English class every Tuesday
and Thursday night and have lots of Brazilians and Latinos from all over. It
gives me a whole new appreciation for my CCM teachers! It's so fun because I
teach them English and they help me with my Spanish. It's a good trade off.
We had our zone conference this week
and got Facebook and smart phones. It's been so weird hahahah. But good! We can
contact everyone so much better. Technology is so neat.
Last Monday, we got to eat at a
yummy barbecue place with a recent convert and it ended up being the day that
everyone and their cat wanted to give us food! Food makes people happy and
brings them together. So why not right? While at our first lesson with a recent
convert, we are saying the opening prayer and hear their two little girls
spring up and run to the kitchen and start stuffing treats in our bags, giving
us water bottles, fruit, all that good stuff. We finish and both of them are
just smirking because they were soooo sneaky. We went to our next lesson and
our investigators were so insistent that we eat! They gave us eggs with peppers
and tortillas. Ahhh it was so tasty but Hermana Bowers hates eggs and hasn't
eaten them for like 8 years! The whole time, I was just giggling as I watched
her eat like 12 tortillas trying to trick herself into not tasting the eggs.
Hahaha ahhh it's the little things. If we weren't already stuffed after this,
we visited a member and she fed us again. We all rolled home after this day.
Literally, rolled because couldn't move we were so stuffed. Gotta get ready for
hibernation season right?
This week, we had one of the coolest
lessons! The first was with these two Brazilians and we taught them the
restoration! It was totally a lesson you would have seen on the district or in
a movie or something. 1. We speak Spanish, they speak Portuguese. Before the lesson, we were all having a little
bit of a hard time understanding each other. I mean some things would come
across perfectly and other things we'd all laugh because nobody had any clue.
Right after we said the prayer and we started teaching and talking and asking
questions every language barrier was gone. Everything they said we all
understood and same for them. Gift of tongues!!! 2. As we taught they made self-discoveries,
before we even would mention something they'd say "wait... So that means
Joseph Smith was given the priesthood authority and your church has that today?
Or that means I would need to get baptized by someone from your church" we
all just sat there in awe. Next was with another cute Brazilian and she just
loves us! She comes to all of our English classes and soccer nights. She has so
many Mormon friends and has wondered what’s so different? We went in for our
lesson and talked to her for a hot second before she just said like okay cut to
the chase, teach me! She was soooo excited to tell her husband all about
everything when he got home and we have several lessons with them next week!
God is good!! There were a lot of other really cool lessons this week as well
and this next week is going to be oh so good!
On the opposite end Satan got us
good this week. Ugh that's the worst! We went to our follow up visit and saw
one of our investigators leaving for a date, next we texted our next
appointment to see if we were still good for our appointment and he told us no
because he was drinking... and he'd been keeping the word of wisdom for a
couple weeks now.... and a lot of the people we are teaching have expiring
visas here in November and will be leaving so soon and don't want to commit
since they're leaving.. But we're on the winning team! And the good always
always outweighs the bad! We're really excited to see how this week goes. It's
gonna be good.
Also I'm weak... I cannot be trusted
in Wal-Mart. I bought a huge bag of the Reeses pumpkins. #blessed
Let’s just talk about today.....We
went to Downtown Charleston!!! Wahoo. It was awesome! We left our apartment
with somewhat clear skies. The city is way neat. I would love to come and just
tour around here and find all the historic stuff! Ahhh neat. But anyway while
we were walking by the ocean... It starts a DOWNPOUR. It was pouring!!! So we
toured around Charleston in the rain and that is why you are all being gifted
with the pictures of me in my soaking wet clothes and weird hair. You are
welcome.
I hope that everyone has a good week
and knows how much I love you all.
