Miracle
week
This week was one of those weeks I know I'll look back and say... Wow, I
love being a missionary. Friday night, we got to drive down in the Zone Leaders
minivan for a mission tour. There were 6 sisters and it was so fun. We went
down to Columbia and got to stay with Hermana Bowers and Davis for the Mission
tour on Saturday. So Elder Wilford Anderson, a General Authority Seventy, came
and he just talked to us and had lots of guidance for our mission specifically.
We got to hear from President Innes, Sister Innes, Sister Anderson, and Elder
Anderson. When Sister Anderson got up she said "I feel really prompted to
play this hymn on the piano, if you know it... please stand up and sing
along." She starts playing “We thank thee oh God for a Prophet” and
everyone stood up at once. As I sang the words and really thought about them, I
just was really really touched. That was one of the most spiritual experiences
that I have had in my life. It was seriously amazing. The rest of the
conference, we just felt so inspired and Elder Anderson just gave the coolest
thoughts for us. Later we just were allowed to ask him questions and it was so
cool.
For Fast Sunday this week, I was fasting for the Hernandez family and
that there would be a miracle with them. So at church they came as always and we
taught gospel principles and they participated a lot more than usual. Then
Guadalupe decided to stay for Priesthood for the first time ever! They've come
to church every week since April but yesterday he stayed. And he participated.
And he volunteered to help with a service project!!!!!! It was an actual
miracle. Later we found out that I was fasting for him, Hermana Jensen was
fasting for him, and 2 other Sisters in a different ward!!!! It was so
cool.
This last week, we really felt like we needed to just focus on the
members. We really just focused on getting to know them and building those
relationships. We spent a lot of time with them and by another miracle we had a
lot of progression in our investigators. During our lesson with our new
investigator, we were talking and realized that he's the nephew of one of the
members we are working with. After we tried to contact a less active, he
essentially showed us off the porch. That day had just been a bust and I walked
away saying "literally there has to be someone in this area that needs
us!" The next person we contacted was Tatiana. She was so interested and
just said that she wanted to start going to church and knew so many of the
members! Her mom is from Colombia and we are gonna see them this week. And
another miracle, next week is completely filled!! As a missionary, busy is
always best and this week is going to be busy. Wahoo!!!!
Sunday ended and we were both just in awe at all the amazing stuff that
happened this week.
Also alert! South Carolina has
mountains!!!! We are driving to Melissa's and I look on the horizon and there
were these tiny mountains in the distance. I stopped the music and Hermana
Jensen and I were dying we just kept saying "Wow. They're so
cool."
This week has been so bitterly cold. When we wake up it is like 10
degrees and it stays cold all day. I feel blessed my dad sent my coat and warm
clothes hah.
Have a blessed week.
Con mucho Amor
