Wowza what a week.
Well we had a lot of just really awesome miracles. Let's talk about Gwendolyn. Wow she has just been so prepared and is so so humble and sweet. We had a lesson with her and the day was nuts but we just started talking to her and the spirit was so strong. She quickly accepted a baptismal date and is now working towards that. We saw her 2 days later and was just pumped. She is so so sweet and just has such a good heart.
DAVID!!! We met David through English classes and he is so cool. He came to church last week and this week and really enjoyed it. When we had our lesson with him this week he just told us about the change he's made in his life. He no longer smokes or drinks and just really is taking a different path now. He looked at each of us and just asked "Why should I join this church?" "Why are you a member of this church?" "Has being a member made you a better person?" The spirit was so strong that I was about speechless. I just testified about the blessing it has been to me and my family. There's certain things that words can't express and my love for the gospel and how it's changed my life. God is good y'all.
We had a cool lesson with Concexion and his family. We did the footsteps to Christ and talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We had them all get up and walk the 5 steps. It was really fun and they enjoyed it. Later that week we stopped by and we taught Concexion and he is working towards baptism!
So, on Tuesday we were looking at our plans and really felt like we needed to go visit Brother McCracken. We left and he had just had a rough night and a lot going on. He had been laying on the couch praying and crying when we knocked on his door. He just testified to us that we were an answer to his prayer. It was a really sweet moment.
Sunday, we had President Innes come to our ward. He spoke in sacrament meeting, taught Sunday school, and then taught the youth. (The ward took full advantage of his presence.) On Saturday night, as we were trying to finalize everything for the next day, everything just crashed down on us. The only Hispanic family wasn't going to be there, and they were going to drive one of the people we are teaching. We were trying to pick up all the pieces and figure it out. We got this sweet sweet old lady from English in the ward to agree to pick up our slightly scary looking but super sweet investigator from Honduras. We were so nervous because there was a huge language barrier. Ultimately, he wasn't able to come because of work... but thinking about the crazy day it was probably better. ahhh it was just funny. We called lots of other members and they really stepped up for us and helped us so much. David and Edgar came to church and loved it!!!! It was allllll about missionary work and it was awesome. Oh yeah!!! We sang in church as well!! The members all loved it and I really think it helped get them inspired to share the gospel. We went over that night to a members home for dinner and one of the daughters told us that she felt inspired to ask her friend to start coming to weekly activities at the church, which inspired her mom to send scriptures to her friends, which got the boys motivated to do something as well, and their dad isn't a member and they always share with him. It was just really cool to see.
I love being able to share the gospel because it just makes me happy and it makes other people happy to hear the message. God is so so good to me and I love being a missionary. An email can't really capture even a fraction of everything going on!! Life is good!! Love y'all.
Fun/Funny stuff from the week
We had the most southern meal ever. Shrimp and Grits. It was so delicious. The Stalvey family made it for us and wowza. Then we had a nice low country boil last night. The south is really getting to us in this area.
It rained. Like POURED!!!! We were driving with the flashers on and 30 mph on the freeway. It was nuts. It just doesn't rain like that in Utah. The next morning out for our daily exercise we counted 22 dead frogs RIP.
Oh also a recent convert and his fam came to visit Hermana Jones and us this weekend. They are so cute!! They are from Brazil and are so funny.
