Singing
pinecones
Holaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa y'all
What a week. This week was just weird. Let's start with MMA shall
we.
We show up to MMA and we are with
Josh and the Inman sisters. He starts leading us into the forest and we just
follow hahahaha. We get somewhere good and we are just standing in a circle in
silence in the forest. He then tells us to pick up 500 pine cones. So we make
this huge pile of 500 pine cones. The moral of the story: Sometimes a task like
500 pine cones seems so big but then you start and you can do it and it's easy.
Keep that in mind peeps.
This last week, I hit 6 months in the mission. How weird!! See y'all in
a year; or not. I might stay forever. We'll see how it goes.
President has asked that we start using our family history to find and
help others. So cool story. Tuesday we are doing our family history and I am
starting to get all these things connected. Someone had added a lot of pictures
of my great Grandpa Crofts. As I looked at them I got really emotional and just
was really overcome with the spirit. I saw him and just felt the impression
that I had finally put a face to a spirit that had helped guide me and comfort
me throughout my life.
One of our other investigators Edith is like our mom. She so sweet. Well,
she's part of a less active family. Her husband and oldest son were baptized
and haven't been in years. We've been teaching her but she's been wary about
going to church without her son Jayden who's 9. I was having the impression the
last couple visits to invite Jayden to listen and just ignored it. So in our
lesson, the spirit totally smites me. We started reading the Book of Mormon
with Edith and Jayden runs in and says "Hey I've got one too!!!!!" He
is now way interested in learning and has been so fun to teach.
So last week we were doing weekly planning and I just felt so weird.
Just like something wasn't right with the week. But I couldn't figure it out.
So all week we are just waiting for something bad to happen. On Tuesday, the
ZLs call and ask if for Zone conference I will do the musical number. I was
mortified. I was really hesitant. I love to sing, in like a congregation, in
the shower, personal favorite: the car. Anyway I did a duet with Sister
Canterberry. She's so sweet and really talented. The night before the ZLs
called again and told me she was sick and wouldn't be there andnd that'd I'd be
doing a solo. I was superrrrrr stressed and prayed that by some miracle
something else would happen. Miracle, Sister Canterberry made it! I was really
nervous and during my part singing was so quiet. But I don't think they'll ever
ask me again. So that's a miracle. Hahahah. This sounds dramatic. It is
dramatic. But I was mortified.
Friday was zone conference! By the end, you are just spiritually
exhausted because it was so good!!! We talked so much about allowing ourselves
to be changed and when we are we can finally share the gospel. Just a lot of
finding joy in the work. We stayed in Greer that night and have a couple of
investigators in that area. We had kinda a scary experience leaving Gerardos.
We weren't in the safest little trailer park but we were just walking back to
our car. We see our car and there's this guy circling it and kinda looks like
he's going to break in. (He was really scary) In my head I’m like "wow what
do we do. That’s our car. Do i test my MMA skills? Do I run? Wait I can’t leave
my comp. There’s nothing in the car but a couple Book of Mormons. Hey maybe we
are planting seeds and he'll steal the Book of Mormon. I bet you go to a bad
place breaking into a missionary car. Hey I think he’s leaving." After a
hot second I think he realized it was our car and ran away. Hermana Jensen and
I both felt really unsafe and were freaking out internally. We got in the car
and it was just making really weird noises. I was just praying and praying and
we tried calling the Elders to figure out what to do. We just went to our next
lesson. Our lesson with Arnulfo was awesome and we felt lots safer once we got
there. I think the Spirit took control of our car and made it have weird noises
so that we wouldn't stop and leave the area. Blessings! Note don't call the
Elders in a life threating situation, because they don't answer.
I really love Hermana Jensen. This week after
Ward council one of the counselors Brother Johanson said "Have you guys
ever noticed how frequently you finish each other’s sentences?" We both
just laughed. We are really starting to pick up each other’s habits
hahahahah.
The Hernandez
family is so so confusing. So Guadalupe isn't even a member yet but has a huge
testimony of paying his tithing and going to church. They have missed like 2
weeks since April. They are so so awesome. All of the kids have to read 2 pages
in the Book of Mormon in English and Spanish every day. And they love it!!!!! They
are awesome. We are just really trying to follow the spirit to know how to help
them. Please keep praying for Adailya. We
have faith and hope that she gets baptized this transfer. She's so ready and
just could use some extra prayers.
Hope y'all have the best week!
Con mucho Amor
