Can you feel the love? Jk friendship,
yeah we'll go with friendship.
Happy Valentine
’s Day y'all!! Hope it was full of lots of chocolate and ice cream.
This week, we saw a lot of little miracles but it was also just really hard. It seemed that the forces were just against us. (Which we know they are, but they were working a lot harder on us). Just whenever we would get something going it would feel like a rug was being slipped out from under us.
We had our interviews this last week with President. The whole mission started the Book of Mormon together and we are reading and looking for the Doctrine of Christ. As I have been reading it I have loved seeing that it all just comes back to that. Y'all should start the BOM again
and read it with us. I also got a blessing from President Innes which was really special and helped lift my spirits a lot.
I love this area and I love the people here. Some weeks it just feels like we don't have enough days to accomplish all that we want to. (This is a good (stressful) problem to have). The Lord is constantly showing us his hand in the work.
Wednesday we went and did service in the morning at Hatcher Garden. We split up between the 6 missionaries in the ward and tried to make sure that all the members felt loved. We made cute valentines and gave them all a little treat. We risked out life going to Hermana Vargas's house. Her dog is terrifying and on the end of his chain. One day he's going to get off and that's going to be the day I go to heaven, because it will kill me. Anyway we saw the Hernandez family. Troy had gotten his wisdom teeth out so we gave him ice cream and jello (how Mormon right?) He loved it! We read scriptures with them about the atonement and that was great. They invited us to stay for dinner and then Guadalupe got home. He was walking in and everyone always greets him by the door. It was Valentine’s day so he gave his son chocolate, his 3 daughters flowers, and then his wife flowers and chocolate. I was just in the kitchen admiring how cute it all was but then he gave Hermana Jensen and I flowers too. It was the cutest most loving fatherly thing for him to do. It was so sweet. That night for dinner we got ice cream and celebrated. Hermana Jensen was the best valentine I've had yet.
We have been teaching Edith and felt like we needed to bring a recent convert Aurora over because they would hit it off. They were so similar that they were even from the same state in Mexico. I just watched as Aurora shared her conversion story and how in reality members are so much better missionaries than we can be. It really was so amazing!
Well we have been asked to watch over one of the wards in Greer and see how the Spanish work is going there and if they have potential to have a group of some sort. On Sunday we went to the first hour of our ward and then drove 45 minutes to the next. It was so cool. We did the
translation for the ward and then taught a Spanish Sunday school. Everyone loved it. Hermana Zapata attends there in English every week, so being able to go through church with her and help her have it in Spanish was so special. She loved it and the other Hispanics were also excited to have us there. I felt like a little celebrity "And in the back we have SPANISH SISTERS." If ya ever need a pick me up just head on down. But really they have so much potential there and it really is just going to keep growing. Wahoo. I hope you all have the best week. I am so grateful to be a missionary and share the joy that comes from the gospel with everyone we meet.
The Church is true and God is so good.
