The
Hunt Club
Happy Monday Y'all,
I hope you had the happiest conference weekend!!!! I loved it. It's
kinda all overwhelming. I feel like I am getting a flood of information and
revelation and just have a little bucket trying to capture it all. I am excited
to study them all again.
Well folks Columbia is a good place. On Wednesday, we said the rest of
the goodbyes and that was really hard. You know when something is so sad that
it like physically hurts? Yeah those were some tough goodbyes. We did get to
have a Family Home evening with David, Pablo and the Cartagenas. David is on
fire right now and I am really excited to see how God uses him. Also, that area
is just going to see miracles these next couple months I am sure of it. I miss
it lots.
Okay that's enough of all the sad stuff. Goodbyes are hard but they
don't have to be goodbyes forever right?
My new companion is Hermana Morgan. She is from Gilbert Arizona and has
been out for almost 6 months. She's been in the area for a transfer so we are
both fresh eyes.
So Thursday after transfers we go straight to this members house. We are
teaching all the members a couple of lessons to help them strengthen their
testimonies and strengthen the rama (branch). hahahaha. Well she is so so
sweet. But just imagine this for me. You are a missionary and you are teaching
someone, but she's deaf, and only speaks Spanish. We did our best. She read the
lesson before hand and we would just try and talk slowly so she could read our
lips. She really likes to talk, so I think she would purposefully start telling
a story and walking around. I mean you can't stop her! You have to just get her
attention some other way. Ahhh it was a good time and she was so so sweet. She
texted us on Sunday since there wasn't subtitles where she was watching and
just said.. "Hermanas, please text me and tell me what the prophet
says!"
We went contacting on a street called "Hunt Club." Listen...
We're on the hunt for people ready to hear the gospel, a lot of them were on
the hunt for an esposa. Not a good fit.
We talked to a couple people outside
and they were really really nice. We told them what we do and they were really
interested and kept saying "We were just talking about how we could get
closer to God!!!" It was really cool and we talked to them for a long
time. It was pretty hot out and they felt bad they hadn't offered us
anything to drink so one of them ran inside to grab us some juice. I took a
small sip just enough to taste it and almost choked. It was super not juice. It
totally had some alcohol in it. (Don't worry. I did not continue to drink it!!!
We just walked away and dumped it out) We left and both of us were dying. Be
careful out their kids, don't accept drinks from strangers.
General Conference was really awesome and a big boost to me after each
session I left feeling like I could take on the world. We watched most of them
at the church and Cesar met us there. We watched a couple of them with some of
the members and that is always fun! I loved all the talks but specifically
loved President Eyring’s talk. I loved the perspective that he gives towards
life's challenges. We can do anything through him and overcome anything with
him!!
I love being a missionary. :) Have
the happiest week.
Con Amor
